# Templates Overview

> Browsing, creating, and applying reusable survey templates.

## 1. What is a template?

A template is a pre-assembled survey structure you can reuse across clients and rounds instead of rebuilding the same setup from scratch. **Templates** is its own item in the top-level navigation, separate from the Library — though a template is built through the same wizard as a Library instrument (see the [Building an Instrument guide](/product/library/instruments-and-templates)).

## 2. Browsing templates

The Templates page lists every template you have access to, with search and two filters: **All Templates** (scope) and **Owner**. For each template you see its name, an underlying block count, and an **Info** link through to its detail page, which shows its description, owner (Wenite or a specific client), and structure.

## 3. Creating a template

Click **Create Template** to start the same wizard used for building an instrument: Language, Import (optional), Questions, Modules, KPIs, Translations, Review. The result is saved as a template rather than as standalone Library content.

## 4. Applying a template

When creating a new survey, choose "from a template" instead of starting blank (see the [Creating a Survey guide](/product/survey-creation)). All of the template's blocks are preloaded, and you're free to add to, adjust, or remove them from there — applying a template never locks you into its exact structure.

## Recommended workflow

1. **Check Templates before building from scratch** — search by name or filter by owner to see if a suitable one already exists.
2. **Build once, reuse often** — once you've finalized a good survey setup, save it as a template so future clients start from it instead of a blank survey.
3. **Treat a template as a starting point** — after applying one, still review and adjust its blocks for the specific client and engagement.
